A3 Print by Geraldine Lestage from her original expressive dripping painting exhibition end of 2019.
Starting in 2005, her dripping technique has been the main thread of her work throughout the years.
Whilst her brush never touches the canvas, she lets the paint splashing, creating vivid portraits and invigorating representations of a variety of strong emotions.
The spontaneity of the technique gives her a certain freedom: initially in the gesture, giving up on the absolute control of the final result and skipping on the conventional restrictions of figurative forms -but also by freeing inner emotions throughout their actual representation.
Her paintings are mainly inspired by strongly contrasted black and white photographs and her fascination for surrealism and its hypnotic core. Being an emotional observer, various feelings and deep states of mind are depicted in her paintings through facial and bodily expressions appearing from the paint drips.
After graduating from EEA Art School in Switzerland where she got to explore all kinds of art techniques and media, she had her first exhibition in 2010 where she performed live painting - firstly to demonstrate what the dripping technique was and was about but also to inject even more life to her work with a slightly different approach.
Since then her work has grown with her and after a deep period of self-centering the past three years, she unleashed her creativity on the blank canvas once again.
